Heart Foundation Walking

Service Name
Heart Foundation Walking

Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest FREE walking network. It is a social, fun and easy way for people to walk and be active.

With more than one in four Australian adults (5.76 million people) doing very little or no exercise at all, Heart Foundation Walking is a great way to help people increase their physical activity.

Over the past 21 years more than 80,000 Australians have participated in Heart Foundation Walking by walking in a group and/or being a Virtual Walker.

There are many ways to be physically active, but walking is the number one activity Australian adults do on a regular basis. Walking is so popular because it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It can be done just about anywhere and is free. Walking also has a very low risk of injury as it is low impact (not jarring on the joints) and doesn’t require any special equipment or training.

Heart Foundation Walking is structured around organised groups as this complements the social aspect of walking. When people walk in groups, they can talk while they walk and it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and neighbourhood.

We understand that not everyone lives near a Heart Foundation Walking group or can not make it to every scheduled walk. To encourage everyone to walk, Heart Foundation Walking includes a Virtual Walking group where participants can track their progress online.

Belconnen Physiotherapy - Hydrotherapy

Service Name
Belconnen Physiotherapy - Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is treatment carried out in a special purpose pool. The pool we use is in the Club MMM! Day Spa. After a detailed examination and discussion about your needs and goals, your physiotherapist will design an exercise / treatment programme for you. All your treatment sessions will be supervised by one of our physiotherapists.

The benefits of hydrotherapy are improved strength, flexibility and fitness. Increased levels of daily activity and motivation flow from these, as well as decreased pain in most cases.

Programmes will run for six weeks during which we will focus on achieving the goals we set at the initial assessment. We have a limited number of spaces available during our pool times for patients who have completed programmes and wish to continue without our supervision. We will let you know when you are ready for this.

When your treatment is completed we will give you a programme of exercises to ensure you retain the benefits of your time with us.
